| Date: | 01.10.2026 - 24.01.2027 |
| Aim of the course: | The aim of this course is to provide learners with a comprehensive understanding of Product Environmental Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) and its role in evaluating and reducing the environmental impacts of products. Participants will develop practical skills in conducting LCA analyses, applying international standards, and interpreting assessment results to support sustainable product design, manufacturing, and decision-making. The course enables learners to use life cycle thinking as a tool for improving environmental performance and promoting sustainability across product systems. |
| Target group: | Construction and architecture specialists. |
| Prerequisites: | Prior knowledge of construction, ≥ EQF level 5 |
| Topics: | * Introduction to Product Environmental Life Cycle Assessment (LCA): principles, scope, applications, and benefits. * International LCA standards and regulatory frameworks, including ISO 14040 and ISO 14044. * Life Cycle Inventory (LCI) and Life Cycle Impact Assessment (LCIA) methodologies. * Data collection, modelling approaches, and environmental impact assessment of product systems. * Development and interpretation of LCA models using case studies and practical examples. * Communication and reporting of LCA results to support sustainable product design, manufacturing, and decision-making. |
| Study results: | Learning Outcomes: 1. Explains the principles, scope, and importance of Product Environmental Life Cycle Assessment (LCA). 2. Interprets key international LCA standards and regulations, including ISO 14040 and ISO 14044. 3. Performs Life Cycle Inventory (LCI) and Life Cycle Impact Assessment (LCIA) analyses. 4. Develops and interprets LCA models for both simplified case studies and customised product systems. 5. Prepares and presents LCA results in a clear and structured manner to support sustainable design, manufacturing, and policymaking. |
