| Aim of the course: | The aim of this course is to provide learners with the knowledge and practical skills needed to integrate sustainability and environmental considerations into construction planning and project management. Participants will learn how to select environmentally responsible technologies, materials, and methods, optimise resource use, improve energy efficiency, and reduce carbon emissions throughout a building’s life cycle. The course also develops the ability to conduct preliminary life cycle analyses and identify effective measures for enhancing the sustainability performance of construction projects. |
| Target group: | Construction and architecture specialists. |
| Prerequisites: | Prior knowledge of construction, ≥ EQF level 5 |
| Topics: | * Principles of sustainable construction and environmental management throughout the building life cycle. * Environmental impacts of construction activities and strategies for reducing carbon emissions. * Selection and evaluation of sustainable construction materials, technologies, and methods. * Energy efficiency, renewable energy solutions, and resource optimisation in construction projects. * Waste management, circular economy principles, and modern waste reduction technologies. * Introduction to life cycle analysis (LCA) and practical approaches for improving the sustainability performance of buildings and construction projects. |
| Study results: | Learning Outcomes: 1. Understands the relationship between building life cycle activities and environmental management. 2. Selects appropriate technologies, materials, and methods to achieve environmental objectives. 3. Distinguishes between methods and technologies for reducing carbon emissions and improving energy efficiency. 4. Identifies and optimises the use of renewable and non-renewable resources. 5. Understands waste management principles and applies modern waste management technologies. 6. Conducts a preliminary life cycle analysis and implements sustainability improvement measures. |
