Aim of the course:This course is an in-depth analysis of important aspects and case studies of intellectual property rights (IPR). Topics include aspects of patents, trademarks, copyrights, and designs. There will also be an in-depth analysis of IPR intensive entrepreneurship. Prior knowledge of IPR is not a prerequisite. The focus is on doctoral students from STEM study programs.
Target group:doctoral students
Topics:This course introduces students to the various areas of IPR such as patents, trademarks, copyrights and designs. There is an in depth analysis of IPR intensive entrepreneurship. Due emphasis is laid on appropriate case studies, from legal and business perspectives. Students will be introduced to strategies and concepts on how to acquire, protect, commercialise and exploit their IPR
Study results:After passing the course student:
- Explains the philosophical, historical and legal foundations of IPR;
- Explains the essence of various types of IPR such as patents, trademarks, copyrights and designs and their main differences;
- Compares and contrasts analytically the different forms of IPR intensive entrepreneurship
Assessment criteria:Eeltingimus kursuse "Arvestuse" saamiseks on aktiivne osalemine kursuse töös ja testide sooritamine.
