| Aim of the course: | The training consists of both theoretical and practical classes that involve gas systems, as well as personal protection while handling cryogenic liquids and compressed gas. Practical tasks are conducted using following equipment: Portable gas detector, LNG simulator model - Transas LNG Tanker and Terminal Simulator 5000 and Fire-Fighting simulator. | ||||||
| Target group: | Basic training is on operational and management levels. The course is designed to meet the requirements of the part A, chapter V of the STCW Convention on Special training requirements, which are provided in table A-V/3-1. | ||||||
| Topics: | The course "Gas-fuelled ship operation" provides increased competence for officers and crew onboard vessels that use gas (LNG) as fuel. The course is divided into two parts: Part 1 - "Basic course" aimed at all crew groups on LNG-powered vessels that in various ways are involved in ship safety, and Part 2 - "Advanced training" aimed towards engineer and deck officers and crew who are responsible for, and directly involved in operations associated with machinery and handling of fuels. | ||||||
| Study results: | Seafarers responsible for designated safety duties associated with the care, use or in emergency response to the fuel on board an LNG-fuelled vessel must be able to recognise risks and be aware of specific points of attention related to LNG and operate the systems related to this. In addition they must be able to perform LNG-bunkering operations (shipboard) in a safe and controlled manner, recognise potential problems and handle emergency situations related to LNG. | ||||||
