| Date: | 01.10.2026 - 24.01.2027 |
| Aim of the course: | The aim of this course is to equip learners with the knowledge and practical skills required to assess the technical condition, durability, and remaining service life of residential buildings. The course introduces traditional and digital assessment methods, including non-destructive testing techniques, Building Information Modelling (BIM), and other advanced diagnostic tools. Learners will develop the ability to evaluate building structures and materials, interpret assessment results, and support informed decision-making for building maintenance, renovation, and life-cycle management. |
| Target group: | Construction and Real Estate professionals. |
| Prerequisites: | Prior knowledge of construction, ≥ EQF level 5 |
| Topics: | This course provides learners with the knowledge and practical skills needed to assess the condition, durability, and remaining service life of residential buildings. Participants will explore the properties and performance of construction materials, apply traditional and digital assessment methods, and use non-destructive testing techniques such as thermography, vibration analysis, and 3D laser scanning. The course also introduces BIM and other digital tools for building diagnostics and life-cycle assessment, supporting informed decisions on building maintenance, renovation, and asset management. |
| Study results: | 1. Analyse different structural types and building elements to assess their condition, durability, and service life using both traditional and digital assessment methods; 2. Evaluate and interpret the mechanical, thermal, and moisture-related properties of construction materials and understand their impact on overall building performance; 3. Apply non-destructive testing (NDT) methods, including thermography, vibration analysis, and 3D laser scanning, to diagnose and monitor the condition of structures; 4. Demonstrate a general understanding of structural health monitoring principles and practices; 5. Carry out the practical components of a technical building assessment; 6. Use Building Information Modelling (BIM) and other digital tools to create 3D models and perform comprehensive building assessments; 7. Understand destructive, semi-destructive, and non-destructive testing methods for construction materials. |
